When my family began looking for a dog, we knew we wanted to rescue. So, we went to Robyn at PetResQ who is local to us and brings in fantastic pets who just need a loving home. She gave us Rosie, a shih-tzu who was rescued from an animal hoarder. She was as sweet as can be, and we loved her dearly. But, Rosie was very shy and quiet, and since there are three children in our family, we decided we wanted another, livelier dog, preferably a shih-tzu. We were on the search for many months, until our groomer, Joanne from Just For Paws in Berganfield NJ, called us. A family who had a one year old shih-tzu-Rocket-who they groomed at Just For Paws, had abandoned the dog at the shop. Joanne called but they didn't want him back. She knew we were on the search for another pup and wanted us to see how we liked Rocket, who at that point had been renamed Trevor. We fell in love immediately and took him home. A year later, Rosie and Trevor love each other as dearly as we do, and can be found either on our laps or snuggling together on their cushions at any given time of day.

Neena (formerly Sassy)
Hi Robyn and Kandy
I just want to give you an update on Neena. She has come into our lives at such a crucial time. My daughter, who is 34, got sick in the fall and has endured numerous tests, scans, etc. She has two children, ages 4 and 7. I cannot begin to tell you the joy this lil' girl has brought to our family. My daughter had her spleen removed two weeks to rule out cancer which Thank God it wasn't. She has sarcardosis which is not life threatening. During her time away for pre op and surgery, Neena was always there to cuddle with my grandkids. Her antics would make them have belly laughs which was most important at this time.
Last week my daughter developed a blood clot and had to be rushed back to the hospital. Once again Neena stepped in to comfort these kids. I look at her and believe she is an "Angel" sent by God to get this family through a rough time. I think to myself and say: "How could anyone have given you up?" and then I say:"It was God's plan for us to have her.
Now that Jen is home, the kids still come here to play with her and can't wait for mommy to be better so that Neena can go to their house for play dates.
If I can ever be an advocate for your group, I would be happy to post my story.
Once again, thank you both from the bottom of my heart.

Robin,
It's been 9 months since Buster came home with us and he is still an adorable nut of a pug. He is on a couple of drugs to control his seizures and he has one or two a month, but they only last a minute or two and he comes right out of them. He gets along with Rocco and keeps me company in the bathroom when I shower. In the summer, he often would go out in the backyard and nap under the sun. He yelps when he doesn't get his way and snores decibels louder than Rocco. Attaached are some random photos of him around the house. Hope you are doing well.

A dog rescued a LONG time ago (1995) - Prissy
Hi Robyn-
I can not thank you enough for my beautiful Tillie. The plan was to foster a dog to see how our cats would react, since I always wanted a big dog, I picked Tillie because there was no way I would ever get attached to a little Pekingese. Boy was I wrong, she works very hard to trust and enjoy life, her resilience is inspiring. She came from a hoarder and was used as a breeding dog, she did not wag her tail for a week but she was house trained in a day. Now she loves to go for walks, shopping & snuggles - plus she ignores the cats so they have adjusted. Ironically, Tillie is a hoarder herself stashing dog biscuits & socks in her bed.
Helping Tillie overcome her past and move from being a damaged to a happy dog has been such rewarding experience for my whole family, teenage boys included. We appreciate your patience allowing us to take the time to realize that Tillie was meant to be our forever dog. We will always be grateful to you.

Adopting a friend
Adopting a friend is the most important commitment a human can do for themselves as well as for the pet they take home. It is a huge decision and one that should never be taken lightly. Understand that the pets you get from us have all escaped death and horrible situations. Therefore, our goal is make this placement final and forever.
The rewards can not be measured!!!!! Pet adoption is a lifetime commitment that we take very seriously. A new pet takes some time and patience to settle in to a new enviroment. It does not happen overnight. Be prepared to allow adjustment time...
"...Saving just one pet won't change the world...but surely, the world will change for that one pet..."
Who we are
We are a small group of people who believe ALL pets deserve a chance. We take in small dogs and cats most of which have been neglected are handicapped or have been abused. We then evaluate them put them in foster care and try to find a forever home. They have had all neccessary vet care and then some.
All of our rescues are spayed and neutered before adoption. We have also created a good network of other groups that work together to try to help potential adopters find the pet that is right for them.We operate strictly as volunteers and on donations.
